Episode Synopsis:

Detailed synopsis available here

Haunted by bad dreams, Candy, Zak and Cynth are in counselling with new school counsellor Selwyn Hanify over the death of John. They are without Alison, who has gone home to England for the funeral. It isn't a happy time.

Meanwhile, deceased demon Gom's relics have been claimed by the Exeter Antiquarian Society. The Slayers East intervene in an attempt by vampires to steal them, and Zak's dad Brian gets caught up in the action. They also meet Blake Simkiss, a gruff, hard-nosed mercenary.

Through Mr Pipe, Lex Madsen makes the kids an offer: he'll finance their educations if they fight the supernatural on his behalf. They agree to consider it.

As the bad dreams continue, the the team realise that Mr Hanify has been inadvertantly sharing the group's secrets with the demon Huris. The kids go into dreamland to face Huris, while Brian and Simkiss stand guard against dark demon-creatures. Reliving the night of John's death, the kids come to terms with what happened and defeat Huris.

Trivia and Notes:

  • Pre-production notes for the episode (.pdf file, 96K)
  • In this episode Brian Stevens, Zak's dad and Candy's stepdad, becomes a main cast member, the first adult in the core cast. This signalled an intention on the part of the show's creators to look in a bit more detail at the family history of Zak and Brian, also evidenced by the cryptic 'your mother's sister' references in this episode.
  • "Dreams... Me, Cynth and Zak all walking in the underground corridor, everyone knows our secrets. It's scary. We see John, he walks away into the darkness and we can't follow. It's very sad." - from Candy's diary.
