Episode Synopsis:
Christian and Andrew talk about Candy, and how she can be won over. They see a stray cat - but don't notice the horrific creature chasing it. The cat goes next door to Cynth's, where Cynth sees it and takes it inside.
The cat turns out to be Berrisker, a cat demon, on the run from the Cult of R'Thilliach (which, unbeknownst to the group, is headed by the White Lady glimpsed in Episode Three). He stole an artifact from a R'Thilliach cult, and traded it to a demon named Gom for 'many pretty bangles'. Cynth is trapped under the influence of his pleasure-principle, and he won't free her unless the Slayer-in-training and her friends can help him.
And they do. Meanwhile, Brian drags Zak and Candy to family counselling - he's determined to sort out the difficulties within the family.
Trivia and Notes:
- [Again, I wish I had better notes for this episode. I have no memory at all of how it came together, but I think it was pretty good.]
- R'Thilliach is mentioned for the first time, and its horrific spawn are seen.
- Also making its debut is Gom, the tree-root demon. Gom makes several return appearances in future episodes, and is the first example in the series of a demonic or supernatural being who is not malevolent.
- The pre-credits sequence has Andrew and Christian talking about Candy. Their dialogue makes it sound like Candy's in luck - Christian likes her as much as she likes him! However, the resolution of this thread in Episode 6 puts a decidedly different spin on their exchange.
