'He was thrown down to earth, and all
his angels with him.' -- Revelations 12:9
What's New?
Paradise.Net

This website has been subjected to some exciting updates. The text has been given a long-overdue tidy and there's a couple of nice pictures. And this page has appeared! Here's where all the latest news and info will be posted. So keep checking back...

HOW TO GET THERE!

The action of Apocalypse is to take place in and around a central area of Trentham Racecourse. Go to Trentham - off the motorway towards Silverstream, follow Fergusson Drive to the big intersection and turn right into Sutherland Ave. Cross the railway tracks and the racecourse is on the left.

Billy adds:

Sutherland Ave becomes Messines Ave as you cross the railway line. (Our part of the) Racecourse access is by turning left into Seddul Bahr Rd, and then left again, then follow the road to the right and down parallel to the tracks.

Character Prep

The storyliners have had a couple of good meetings, and we're currently writing up characters for people. If you haven't given us a character concept yet, show up on the day and we'll assign one to you. If you have a character you want to play but you haven't told us about it, contact us NOW! We make no promises but we'll do our best.

Anyway, things are well in hand for you all that we know about to show up on the day and pick up your characters. We'll try and contact you earlier regarding costumes if you're someone who's said "give me a character" but if you don't hear from us, just wear some generic "there's no shops any more" clothing and bowl along.

MERCHANDISE!!

Speaking of clothing, we are going to have Apocalypse tees for sale, a variety of sizes, all of them black with the wallpaper image (which is downloadable from the website) on the front. Price should be around, if not exactly, $30. We'll have some on hand and we'll be able to order more if there's demand. So bring your shekels... Remaining Fury merchandise, including the legendary Fury tees, will also be on sale...

Contact?

If any of you know a Paul Lambert, who tried to contact me re: the event - well, he didn't leave the right phone number. So tell him to call again. Yes, I know this is a long shot.

Speaking of contact, to contact me from now until the weekend use morgan@apocalypse.gen.nz.

Game Masters wanted

People with some experience at GMing role-playing games are needed to write and run stories for phase 2 on Saturday afternoon. This section will be very important to the overall story and we'll need enough GMs to cover the crowds. If you're interested or just want more information, contact me now at morgan@apocalypse.gen.nz.

Support personnel wanted

If you are intrigued by this event, but aren't sure you want to actually participate in it, you might want to consider helping out. There will be heaps to do for people who are not terribly interested in performing - behind the scenes, beforehand, set dressing, music, technical roles, answering questions, handling registrations, videorecording, taking photos... Helping out will be a great way to get right up close to the action.

Aliens links

The Apocalypse storyline is inspired by the events in the Aliens movie quartet. These movies have got quite a following on the net, and the best of the sites are listed on this Top 25 site:

My favourite's their favourite too, and it deserves a link of its own:

And also of interest may be the international-audience Aliens fan club site:

The Tribe

It's probably appropriate to point out that the new TV show, The Tribe, screening Tuesdays on 4, is a local production (very local - Hutt Valley) and has a similar setting to Apocalypse. Apparently this show gets very sharp, judging by its following overseas. Check it out - some of it may be inspirational. And you might see some faces you recognise too...

Worth a look is the official website:
